Clarivate first published the Highly Cited Researcher list in 2001, and has published the list every November or December since 2014. The list is open to scientists worldwide and is based on ESI database. In 2022, 6,938 people from more than 60 countries and regions around the world were selected, up from 6,602 in 2021, 6,167 in 2020, 6,216 in 2019 and 6,078 in 2018. Highly cited scientists have published several high-level papers and been selected as highly cited papers in the past decade, reflecting their significant and widespread influence.
These highly cited papers are ranked in the top 1% of Web of Science by number of citations and year of publication in one or more fields. The list of highly cited scientists identified has a significant impact on the research community, the speed of peer citations is a testament to the significance of their work, and their achievements are well worth celebrating and learning from.
In this context, and with the support of the editors of many leading academic journals, from 21 to 26 October 2019, the Academic Forum by Editors of Internationally Renowned Journals and Web of Science 2018 Highly Cited Researchers was organized by Henan Agricultural University successfully, which lasted for a week, the chief editor and deputy editor from more than 10 Top journals brought the hottest cutting-edge research, research methods, paper writing methods exchange. The successful holding of the first forum has aroused strong repercussions in the academic circle, and more and more experts and scholars who are devoted to scientific research are looking forward to the second Forum while reviewing the results of the first forum.
In view of this, the 2nd International Academic Forum for WoS Highly Cited Researchers (HCR2024) has been put on the preparatory schedule, which will be sponsored by Huanghe Jiaotong University, organized by Huanghe Jiaotong University and International Association of Management Science and Engineering Technology (IAMSET), co-organized by Henan Province Engineering Research Center for Biomass Value-added Products, Henan Province International Collaboration Lab of Forest Resources Utilization, Henan Province Forest Resources Sustainable Development and High-value Utilization Engineering Research Center, and Shanxi Normal University, China. This forum is scheduled to be held in Jiaozuo, China during March 8-10, 2024. Through gathering the chief editors of well-known journals and highly cited scientists, they will share experiences around current research hotspots, new directions, professional research paper writing, publication and academic promotion. It aims to provide a platform for global university teachers and researchers to write, report, publish and promote academic achievements, and further promote related development and cooperation.
